A Chrome extension for Google Docs

Google Docs ate your right click.

Since 2021, every image in a Doc is painted onto a canvas. Nothing to click, nothing to save. Pixlift puts Copy image and Save image back where they belong, and hands you the original at full resolution.

The old workarounds. May they rest.

You know them. You have suffered them.

workaround 01

Zoom to 300% and screenshot

Enjoy your forty blurry kilobytes of a four megabyte photo.

workaround 02

Download as .docx and dig

Rename it to .zip, open seven folders, find image14.png. For one photo.

workaround 03

Ask whoever made the doc

“Hey, sorry to bother you again, could you send me that photo from…”

No magic. One very polite trick.

Pixlift does what you would do by hand, in about 200 milliseconds, without the misery.

1

It asks the doc for itself

Pixlift quietly requests the doc’s own export, using the login you already have. Same request your browser could make, it just never bothered.

2

It unzips it in your browser

That export is secretly a zip with your original images inside. Pixlift opens it right there on the page. Nothing is sent anywhere, ever.

3

It hands you the original

The exact file that was uploaded. Full resolution, original format. Not a screenshot of a screenshot of a canvas.

Doc health report
DUPLICATE
logo.png appears 4 times

One logo. Four uploads. Bold strategy.

CHONKY
hero-shot-v14.png is 9.4 MB

That poor doc loads like it’s 2009.

NO ALT
3 images have no alt text

Screen readers deserve better than “image7.png”.

It even judges your doc. Lovingly.

The doc health report flags duplicate images, files big enough to have their own gravity, and images with no alt text.

Run the checkup on this pretend doc. It has issues. Most docs do.

Nothing ever leaves your machine.

Pixlift runs entirely in your browser. Your documents stay between you and Google, exactly like they already were. We could not read them if we wanted to. We do not want to.

NO SERVERS NO ACCOUNT NO TRACKING NO AI READING YOUR DOCS
